Vale Kate Sinclair (7 Nov 1961 - 16 Oct 2021)

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden and tragic loss of Dr. Kate Sinclair.

Kate was the neurologist involved in our A-T clinic since its inception and joined forces with BrAshA-T and helped secure government funding for the clinic from the Queensland Government, and was instrumental in putting together a multidisciplinary team to rival those in the US and UK.

Years later, when the Queensland Government pulled its funding for the clinic, she continued to advocate for funding to be redirected from other clinics to ensure this vital service continued to be available to our A-T families. She was devastated when she was unsuccessful. Of course, BrAshA-T stepped in and ensured the viability of the clinic, and she continued on as our resident neurologist.

To our little community, she was so much more than a highly competent health professional. Kate was the heart of our A-T family, advocating tirelessly, fighting fiercely for a cure by our side. She possessed an endless and effortless ability to give comfort, strength, compassion and warmth, even in the midst of her own personal heartbreak. Her loss is felt deeply by all who knew her, and is a testament to her gracious and giving spirit.

Kate left people feeling better than when she found them, how privileged we are to have been found by you, Kate. Our deepest condolences go out to her family.
